How to Use Bleach for Laundry

Clorox® Bleach helps keep whites their whitest. Just follow the instructions below.

For Front-Loading Machines with a Bleach Dispenser:

  1. Add
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine before adding bleach or clothes.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser with 1/2 cup (125 ml) Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and begin the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.

For Front-Loading Machines without a Bleach Dispenser:

  1. Start
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine and start the wash cycle.
  2. Add
    Add white clothes.
  3. Wait
    Wait 5 minutes after the cycle starts, then pour 1/2 cup (125 ml) Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach through the detergent dispenser.
After you wash a load of clothing with bleach, it should be safe to follow with a regular load. As long as your washing machine is functioning properly there shouldn’t be any bleach residue inside, so any non-bleachable items you wash next should be unaffected.
